munote ("we") operates MU:note, an automatic practice-tracking app for musicians ("Service"). We collect as little as possible — the app only records what it observes about your practice, nothing more.

1. What we collect

TypeItemsWhen
Required (sign-up)Kakao/Apple account identifier, email (when provided by your social account)When you sign up
Optional (sign-up)Age group, gender, schoolOnly if you enter them
Service usePractice records (start/end time, practice and away time, instrument, practice type, piece names/notes/reflections you type, today's practice goals, D-days, daily notes), device language, timezone, app settingsWhile using the app
Automatically generatedDetection program version, pause/away counts, generated encouragement notes, record created/updated timestamps, consent time and versionWhile using the app
Service operation recordsWhat happened when something failed (error type and code, counts such as how many records were waiting to upload), app and iOS version, app language and instrument setting, whether reminders are onWhen an error occurs, plus once a day
Usage analyticsHow the app is used (which screens and features are used), numbers such as practice time and focus, device model, iOS/app version, app language, a random per-install identifier (for members, this can be linked to the service account number — no name or email is sent), website visits and referral sourceWhile using the app or website
Friends (optional)Display name (nickname), friend code, friend relationships (requests, accepts, blocks), your "what friends can see" settings, reactions you send to a friend's card (👏 🔥 🎵), a "practicing now" signal (only if you turn it on), report details (one of a fixed set of reasons)After you set a name in the Friends tab and start using the feature
Friend notifications (optional)Device push token (the value Apple uses to deliver notifications to this device), app languageWhen a member who keeps friend notifications on opens the app
Note Store (optional)Note balance (the sum of top-up, purchase and refund entries), purchase history (time, amount, item, Apple transaction ID), owned items and what is worn, coupon code redemptionsAfter you top up notes or receive an item in the store

Service operation records exist so we can find the cause when something goes wrong — for example, "I practiced but nothing was recorded." Piece names, notes, and reflections you type are never included, and both the app and the server filter them out mechanically. These records are deleted automatically after 90 days, and they are removed along with everything else if you delete your account, regardless of that period.

Usage analytics exist so we can learn which features help and where the app is confusing, in order to improve the Service. Piece names, notes, reflections, practice goals, D-days, daily notes, friend names, and friend codes are never included — the app filters them out mechanically.

Guest (not signed-up) practice records are also stored on our server for syncing. They are not linked to an account, so access is lost once the app is deleted; such orphaned records will be cleaned up periodically.

Friends only starts when a signed-in member sets a name in the Friends tab and exchanges a friend code directly. We never read your contacts or address book. Friends can always see your name and main instrument; whether you practiced today, whether you are practicing now, today's total practice time, your streak, practice days this week, and focus are shown only if you turn each one on. If you turn on "whether I practiced today", friends also see the date you last practiced — it is used to show your Muni lying down in a friend's practice room after a few days off. Piece names, notes, reflections, today's practice goals, D-days, and daily notes are never shown to friends under any circumstances. These numbers are not stored separately — they are calculated from your practice records each time a friend looks. Turn an item off and it disappears from the next refresh.

We do not receive payment details (card or account information). Apple processes the payment and we only confirm the result with the Apple-signed transaction ID. What your Muni wears (outfit, hairstyle, face, neck and hand accessories) is public information at the same level as your instrument and name and is visible in friends' practice rooms; room backgrounds and props are visible only to friends who visit your room. Calendar themes are visible only to you.

When you visit a friend's practice room, the Munis of that friend's other friends also appear there, without names. In the same way, your Muni may appear, without your name, to another friend of your friend who visits that friend's room. Only what each Muni wears, its instrument, and its practice status under that person's own sharing settings (whether they are practicing now and whether they practiced recently) are shown. You and anyone you have a block with (whichever side blocked) do not see each other.

What we never collect: the app uses your microphone to detect practice sounds, but raw audio is never stored or transmitted under any circumstances. Sound is classified on your device ("is this an instrument?") and immediately discarded. We do not access your location, contacts, or photos.

2. Why we use it

When generating encouragement notes, only summarized practice statistics (such as practice time, weekday, and time-of-day patterns), practice types, and your app language are sent for AI processing — your typed notes and piece names are never sent. This only happens when generating notes for signed-in members. Nothing is sent for AI processing while you use the app without an account, and the first welcome note is created on your device without any external transfer.

4. Retention and deletion

The device push token is deleted immediately when you turn friend notifications off, log out or delete your account. The delivery record kept on the server to send a notification (who sent it to whom) is deleted automatically after 7 days.

5. Your rights

You can view your data (in the app), edit it (in the app), delete it (account deletion), and contact us below with any privacy request.

6. Children

The Service is not available to children under 14. Sign-up requires confirming you are 14 or older.

7. Security

We use encryption in transit (HTTPS), per-account access control (you can only access your own data), and the principle of least privilege. Friends data is shared only with people who are confirmed friends, and only through server-defined procedures — the app cannot read another person's records directly.
